In 2012, she was a participant of the first African Writers’ Trust (AWT) Editors’ Workshop facilitated by Ellah Allfrey, who is a former Deputy Editor in Chief of Granta-UK, one of Africa and UK’s most celebrated book editors, and who was the head of the panel of judges for the Commonwealth Short story competition in 2014. Crystal worked with Moran Publishers Uganda Ltd (the former Macmillan – Uganda) for two years where she doubled as the customer and administrative officer and supported the marketing and publishing departments in sales, editorial and proof-reading. In 2013, she underwent a six-week editorial internship with Modjaji Books in Cape Town, South Africa, courtesy of AWT.
In 2015, she completed an MA in Publishing Studies at the University of Stirling in the UK where she underwent a two-week internship with Palimpsest Book Production Ltd.
Her first short story, Legal Alien, was written during an AWT workshop after which it was published in an online anthology entitled ‘Ssubi’. Legal Alien was, in 2016, commissioned by a South African Film Company that has adapted a short film from it. She is consolidating research further to her Master’s degree, and developing her editorial expertise towards offering a full range of book production and publishing services.
